The 2011–12 Egyptian Premier League will be the fifty-fifth season of the Egyptian Premier League since its establishment in 1948. The new season is scheduled to begin on 14 Oct. and end date are yet to be determined. A total of 19 teams are contesting the league including seven-time defending champions Al Ahly who have won thirty-six times in total. The increase from 16 to 19 is due to the stop of relegation of 2010–11 season because of 2011 Egyptian Revolution and an addition of 3 promoted clubs from second division.
